Following the crisis in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, 6 of the legislators were put on indefinite suspension for their alleged role in the free-for-all on the floor of the House on Monday. The 6 legislators that were suspended are Abubakar Kana, APC- Kokona West; Kassim Kassim, APC-Akwanga South; Mohammed Okpoku, APC- Udega/Loko; Makpa Malla, APC-Wamba; Musa Ali, APC-Keffi East; and Murtala Sodangi, APC-Nasarawa Central. The 6 legislators were allegedly in the forefront of the campaign to stop the governor’s unilateral appointment of sole administrators for the 11 local councils in the state.
Following the invitation to the six legislators by the Department of State Services(DSS), over the Monday fracas, the remaining legislators met and took the decision to indefinitely suspend the six legislators. They were suspended at the session presided over by the deputy speaker, Godiya Akwashiki for “misconduct and for bringing the House to disrepute” following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Tanko Tunga, who accused them of bringing dishonour to the House on account of the fracas. He was supported by the Minority Leader, Muhammed Alkali and 14 others present.
