The Emir of Dutse, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, has said, henceforth, couples living in his emirate must undergo HIV/AIDS tests before marriage. The Emir made this known yesterday in his Sallah, Eid el-Kabir, message to the people of his domain, noting that reports indicated that HIV/AIDS was spreading and causing panic and suspicion among couples. According to him: “As from today, no couple can be joined together as husband and wife until they go for tests and are presented with medical certificate and confirmed negative before an Imam can officiate their marriage in this emirate.” Also, Dr. Sunusi commended security agencies in the state for their efforts in curbing kidnapping and other social vices in Gwaram Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
