Barcelona has been fined €3,000 (£2,700) after Lionel Messi paid tribute to Diego Maradona in Sunday’s Laliga game against Osasuna. Recall that upon scoring a beautiful goal, Messi revealed a Newell’s Old Boys shirt under his Barcelona jersey. The late Maradona played for Newell’s between 1993 and 1994 while Messi played for the club’s academy back in his childhood years. The Argentine also mimicked Maradona’s celebration, pointing both hands to the sky. While the tribute was befitting, it’s against the rules of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
