In three days, 4th August 2020, Kano-born billionaire businessman and founder of BUA Group Abdul Samad Rabiu will celebrate his 60th birthday. While details of the celebration are still in wraps, sources say Rabiu will celebrate with his family members in his sprawling Banana Island, Lagos mansion. A highly-successful businessman-cum-philanthropist, Rabiu’s networth as of 31st July 2020 is $3.1billion and he is listed in the Forbes 2020 World’s Billionaires List. Rabiu’s BUA Group is a Nigerian conglomerate active in food (sugar and oil) and infrastructures (cement, ports, real estate). In January 2020, Rabiu merged his privately-owned Obu Cement company with listed firm Cement Co. of Northern Nigeria, which he controlled – now trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as BUA Cement Plc, Rabiu owns 98.5% of it.
