The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has today approved a bill on the extension teachers retirement age. This approval was done during FEC’s first meeting of the year presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, disclosed this today. The retirement age is now pegged for 65 years as against the initial 60 years. Years of service have also been extended from 35 to 40. The bill; Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers Bill, 2021, is to be sent to the National Assembly for its consideration and possible approval.
