President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in London where he is meeting with the Nigerian Community in the United Kingdom. He arrived London after departing France where he addressed the Plenary Session of the European Parliament and attended Bilateral Meeting with the President of the European Commission in Strasbourg. Earlier today, Buhari attended the Supporting Syria Conference 2016, a meeting which had more than 70 heads of state, the UN Secretary General, heads of international organizations, NGOs and private sector representatives in attendance. The world leaders came together to pledge their support for the growing aid needs of the Syrian people.
At the ongoing meeting with Nigerian Community in the United Kingdom, Buhari in his address said: “The issue of voting rights has come up everywhere I’ve visited since being sworn in. We’re looking at it critically. We’ve no other way of moving Nigeria forward unless we make everybody accountable. We’re recovering funds misappropriated by unpatriotic Nigerians. We’ve not started full investigation of NNPC. I told UK team that came to visit me in Nigeria: help me because it is your system of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ that I’m using now.Education is everything. Encourage your wards in Nigerian to read. Education’s the key to getting rid of setbacks like Boko Haram.”
