An Abuja Federal High Court has ordered the remand of Senator, Ali Ndume, of Borno State in Kuje correctional facility. He was remanded for failing to produce former chairman of Pension Reform Task Force, Abdulrasheed Maina, in court. Ndume, who stood as surety for Maina, would only be released from prison when produces Maina in court. Maina had been declared wanted after failing to appear repeatedly over a 12-count charge of alleged money laundering. He jumped bail in respect of his ongoing N2bn money laundering trial. Justice Okon Aban ordered that the Ndume N500m worth of property located in Asokoro, Abuja should also be sold before he regains his freedom. The property was used as the guarantee for the bail bond and tenders the evidence of the payment of the proceeds of the sale into the Federation Account.
