Office for National Statistics (ONS) has raised alarm over the increasing numbers of Covid infections across the UK. Newly released reports show that about one in 25 people is infected. The number of people with Coronavirus in Scotland is 300,000 – one in 18 – the highest level during the pandemic. It is believed that BA.2, a sub-variety of Omicron, is the most common strain in most of the UK. However, the ONS insists that it is too early to tell what is behind the rise in cases.
