The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has sealed three houses in Katsina belonging to former governor, Ibrahim Shema. Recall the anti-graft agency had declared Shema wanted last week but he later visited the head office of the EFCC on Friday morning, after which he was grilled for over eight hours and is still in custody as at the time of this report. The incumbent Katsina governor Aminu Masari had dragged Shema to EFCC alleging that the former governor misappropriated over N76.6billion collected as excess crude oil allocation and diverted over N7.5billion for personal use. Masari also alleged that Shema and other top government officials of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs used fake documents to divert over N750million earmarked for the purchase of drugs for local government councils.
