This was disclosed in a press release signed by all the secretaries of the NJC and released on Monday. The fasting and praying which begins Tuesday (today) would end on Thursday. The release, which was signed by the secretaries of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. O. P. Olayemi; the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Mr. J.A. Adebayo; and Joint Negotiating Council, Mr. Oladele Ayodeji, reads in part that, “In view of the current situation in Ekiti State as regards the ongoing strike embarked on by the entire workers in Ekiti State, all workers in Ekiti State are invited to a three-day fasting and praying session from Tuesday to Thursday, June 16. It is expected that this should be replicated at all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.” Recall the workers in the state about three weeks ago began an indefinite strike to press home the demand for their outstanding five months’ salaries, among other issues.
