The Federal Government of Nigeria has strongly condemned the coup d’état that occurred in the Republic of Guinea Conakry, yesterday, September 5. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mrs. Esther Sunsuwa, the Nigerian government “rejects any unconstitutional change of government and therefore calls on those behind this coup to restore constitutional order without delay and protect all lives and property”. Military men identified as the National Committee for Reconciliation and Development had announced on Television that they had dissolved the Alpha Conde-led government. Conde had been in power since 2010. It was gathered that the incumbent President have been arrested by the soldiers.
