Isaac Herzog is the new president of Isreal. The former opposition leader was elected by Israel’s parliament on Wednesday. Herzog beat 67-year-old activist Miriam Peretz in the election, taking 87 and leaving her to 26. The 60-year-old will be installed on July 9 as the successor of Reuven Rivlin who has been in office for seven years. Herzog will be Israel’s 11th president.
