The Joint Health Sectors Unions and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations have decided to suspend their planned strike. This was disclosed in a communique signed by the acting Secretary General, JOHESU, Chief M. Ajorutu. The union had threatened to embark on a strike action on Sept. 2 over some of their unmet demands. The strike was to commence from 12am Saturday, September 18, 2021. However, after an emergency meeting AHPA on Friday, the unions decided to give the government a 15 days ultimatum before embarking on a strike action.
