The widow of late Alex Ibru{founder of Guardian Newspapers Limited}, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru has replied former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark on his open 2.5-page letter which bordered on her late husband’s 3 Wills and the alleged dispute between her and late Alex Ibru’s siblings. Chief Edwin Clark, who is a cousin to the Ibrus, had last week in an open letter{published in VANGUARD Newspaper} alleged that the 2011 Will is the bone of contention in the family.
According to Clark, “The three Wills of 1989,1992 and 2011 of Alex Ibru were read in October 2012. Naturally a later always revokes the precious ones. But the content of the 2011 Will has raised lots of questions. There is so much suspicion about the authenticity of this 3rd Will, on the part of the three daughters from the first marriage and the siblings of late Mr. Alex Ibru. The said Will substantially left the children of the first marriage bereft of their late father’s assets, compared to the previous Wills.”

Meanwhile, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru – the incumbent Chairman/President of The Guardian Newspapers – in a 3-page open letter{titled ‘Rejoinder To Chief E.K. Clark’s Publication On The Ibru Dispute’} published in VANGUARD Newspaper today{22 November 2016} in her conclusion said,” I do understand why in trying to inflict maximum harm on me, Chief E.K. Clark would discount the fact that I have been the CEO of the Guardian Newspapers Ltd since 1999{who had qualified with a first degree from the University of Ibadan in 1972 and a Master’s Degree from the American University, Washington DC since 1974- at a time in which it was a signifcantly high attainment for a woman in this country} by referring to me as an ungrateful “housewife”; or the purport of his claiming that “I was an employee of Olorogun Felix Ibru, in his architectural firm”, whereas in fact he knows that I worked for the Ibru Organization, as did all the siblings of the scion of the family Olorogun M.C.O. Ibru. But what was Chief E.K. Clark’s justification for attacking my husband?”
She further said, “My children, step-children and I, along with Dr. Alex Ibru and memories of him, must be left to thrive in peace. I have said my bit and do not intend to respond to any further attacks in the press on my late husband’s memory or facts comprising the dispute that precipited his death. I shall now retire unto the protection of God’s words for me, viz: “Do not afflict any widow or orphan, for if you do afflict them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the Sword and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.”- Exodus 22 verses 22- 24.”
