Team Nigeria has won its first medal at the ongoing Paralympics through Latifat Tijani who clinched Silver in the women’s – 45kg Power lifting event. Tijani won silver in the women’s 45kg Powerlifting after lifting 106kg behind China’s Hu Dandan, who set a new world and paralympic record with her lift of 107kg. Great Britain’s Zoe Newson finished behind Tijani to win bronze. Meanwhile Team Nigeria continued their impressive run on Friday at the 2016 Rio Paralympics as Rolland Ezuruike set a new Paralympic record of 190kg to win gold in the men’s -54kg. His first lift of 185kg broke the previous Paralympic record before he extended it with his second lift of 190kg.
