President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday signed the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law. The record 6.06 trillion budget is expected to stimulate the nation’s slowing economy which took a hit as the price of crude oil, Nigeria’s main export, collapsed in the global market. Former minister of education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili who recently said President Buhari’s economic policies were archaic is not convinced yet about the “change” agenda. Shortly after the budget was passed yesterday, Ezekwesili took to Twitter to express her views. According to her, “Great that we now have #Budget2016 . 3 things are now key for Results from the budget: 1. Execution. 2. Execution. 3. Execution. The good side of #2016Budget brouhaha is that many citizens have taken an interest in public budgets. Passing the Budget finally is great but Economic Policy has not changed. When it does, I’ll let you know.”
