Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has finally been appointed as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). It should be recalled that ENewsNigeria had earlier reported that WTO was going to meet today “to consider the appointment of the next WTO director-general”. This came shortly after South Korea’s, Myung-Hee withdrawal from the race. Iweala’s confirmation was ratified and made public by the WTO Council on it’s official twitter handle today, Monday, 15 February 2021. However, while many Nigerians hailed Okonjo Iweala and congratulated her on her new appointment, others have taken to twitter to drag social media influencer and blogger, Japhet Omojuwa, by the ears. Omojuwa has been an active critic of Iweala and he always made it obvious that he wasn’t her fan. In 2015, Omojuwa allegedly wrote a petition to Yale University against Iweala and attempted to have her doctorate withdrawn. In addition, he seemingly fought against her WTO nomination and one time openly challenged the veracity of her certificate.
