Following a statement by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Mohammadu Sanusi, that the Buhari-led administration might end up like the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure if it failed to retrace its steps on some policies, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, has said the Presidency would not fight the first-class king over this criticism. Shehu made this disclosure in an interview with PUNCH correspondent where he said criticism such as the one made by the Emir was healthy for democracy. In his words, Shehu said, “This government will not fight people for criticising the present administration led by President Buhari. This kind of criticism is healthy for our democracy. One cannot get better without being criticised. I can assure you that this government is listening.” In a related development, President Buhari,on Thursday, met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, in what is believed to be a fallout of the Emir’s criticism of the administration’s economic policies.
