President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Justice Amina Augie and Justice Ejembi Eko as Supreme Court justices. The Senate on Thursday confirmed the receipt of a letter from the President. The letter, which was read to members of the Senate by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, during the plenary, was dated July 19, 2016. The letter read, “In accordance with Section 231, Subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), I have the pleasure to forward for your confirmation the nomination of Hon. Justice Ejembi Eko, JCA, Benue, North Central, and Hon. Justice Amina A. Augie, JCA, Kebbi, North-West, as Supreme Court justices. Please accept, Mr. President of the Senate and distinguished senators, the assurances of my esteemed consideration.”
