Forty-eight hours after he was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos lawyer, Rickey Tarfa (SAN) was released yesterday at 6.10pm to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Augustine Alegeh (SAN). Tarfa was held at the EFCC Lagos office following his arrest by the anti-graft agency at the premises of the Lagos High Court in Igbosere on Friday, after a 5-hour stand-off when the EFCC attempted to re-arrest two of his clients, who were out on bail. Tarfa’s arrest was condemned by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and prominent lawyers in Nigeria. Tarfa is a lawyer with over two decades of experience at the Bar and runs a law firm with over 50 lawyers, 30 paralegal and support staff, as well as two retired judges as consultants-in-chamber.
