The ongoing trial of former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki(retd.) has been adjourned to October 21 by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf of an FCT High Court sitting in Maitama. At the resumed hearing yesterday, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), told the court that the case was scheduled for hearing on Sambo Dasuki‘s application for consolidation of charges with a similar case before Justice Peter Affen of the same High Court. He appealed to the court for the other case file before Justice Affen to be brought together in one court and proposed to the judge to use case management to handle both cases.
While consenting to Jacob’s appeal, Sambo Dasuki’s counsel, J.B. Daudu (SAN), said the suggestion if considered would cover 50 percent of the case. Justice Baba-Yusuf said before the next adjourned date, the case on the merger of the two cases would have to go through the chief judge of the FCT High Court. He said the outcome of that would be made known on the next adjourned date. Before Justice Baba-Yusuf, Dasuki and four others are facing a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N13.5billion.
