The National Assembly has reconsidered and passed the electoral Act amendment Bill 2010. The bill now provides political parties the freedom to choose between either the direct or the indirect mode to select candidates for party primaries. When the bill was earlier passed, it only gave room for the direct mode. However, President Muhammadu Buhari had rejected the bill when it was submitted for assent last December.
