The Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, the father of Niger state Governor, Colonel Sani Bello and 12 others are to appear before the Senate next week over $13.92 billion capital flight. In a statement released by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara South), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions, other affected persons include Dr. Pascal Dozie, Ahmed Dasuki, Gbenga Oyebode, Babatunde Folawiyo and Victor Odili. Organizations summoned are the Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank and Diamond Bank.
Ibrahim said the summon of the affected persons was sequel to the Senate resolution on ” Unscrupulous Violation of the foreign exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous) Act. Recall Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) had while presenting the motion weeks ago said, “Since inception, MTN had sought the collaboration of influential and unpatriotic Nigerians to assist them in looting our external reserves. These Nigerians including Enelamah who MTN used in moving $13.92 billion out of Nigeria which is over 50% of our External Reserves floated and incorporated offshore SPVs in Cayman Island, Mauritus and British Virgin Island as follows.”
