Following the recent sack of 3 Vice Chancellors of 3 federal universities, the former Secretary, National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Peter Okebukola has urged stakeholders in the education sector to take caution, stating that there may be some laws guiding their appointments that were not made public. Okebukola, who spoke with Vanguard yesterday said; ‘’The Jonathan administration erred in short-circuiting this process in the appointment of the foundation Vice Chancellors for the 12 new federal universities.I am aware that the terms of nine of them expired today, February 15 (yesterday). I am also aware that adverts were placed announcing vacancy positions for the nine new federal universities and at some point, the process was halted. I am also aware that many of the nine Vice Chancellors had handed over to their deputies to hold fort until new Vice Chancellors are in post. It is therefore fallacious that the nine Vice Chancellors were sacked.’’ Okebukola further said present administration is repeating these errors in the appointment of those Vice Chancellors without due process.
