The President of Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has declared that the nationwide protests needs to stop. The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this in a post on his Twitter handle. “Since the issues [raised by the protesters] have been accepted [by the government] the time has come for the protests to stop, government needs to have time to implement the demands of the protesters”, he said. Meanwhile, the President, Muhammadu Buhari met with the leaders of the National Assembly over the ongoing protests against the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Unit of the Nigeria Police Force. The meeting held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja. In attendance were the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
