Canada, the European Union, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America have condemned the recent ban of Twitter operations in Nigeria. Recall that ENewsNigeria earlier reported that the federal government ban operations of the microblogging site yesterday. In a joint statement, world superpowers stated that the government has taken the wrong move by banning systems of expression. The statement was titled, ‘Joint Statement From The Diplomatic Missions Of Canada, The European Union (Delegation To Nigeria), The Republic Of Ireland, The United Kingdom And The United States Of America’. “The diplomatic missions of Canada, the European Union (Delegation to Nigeria), the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America convey our disappointment over the Government of Nigeria’s announcement suspending #Twitter and proposing registration requirements for other social media”, the statement read in part.
