There are indications that Vincent Enyeama will be considering his future with Nigeria after being stripped of the captaincy by Sunday Oliseh. The row with Oliseh started when the star goalkeeper, who has 101 caps, was reported to have arrived a day late for Nigeria’s training camp in Belgium after attending his mother’s funeral.
Enyeama was then ordered to apologise to his team-mates for his late arrival. The CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa has been given the captaincy instead. Speaking to ESPN on the incident, Enyeama said, “There has been a lot of incidents these last few months. I don’t need it, the team does not need it, so maybe the best thing might be to step aside in the interest of the country so that the team can focus on football instead of distractions.”

Vincent Enyeama is one of the most capped and consistent Nigerian footballers. I agree that discipline must be returned to the super eagles. However, there shouldn’t be victimisation based on sentiment.
